The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2013 is being conducted by the JEE Apex Board for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programmes in NITs, IIITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions in India. JEE (Main) was earlier known as the AIEEE.
For
admission to NITs, IIITs, Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) and
other participating Institutions, the merit list will be prepared based on 40%
weightage marks in class 12th or equivalent examination and 60% weightage
to JEE(Main). The weightage to school Board/Equivalent examination marks shall
be considered after normalization.
The
JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the
candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate
programmes offered by the IITs.
Examination pattern:
- The JEE (Main) consists of two papers – Paper-1 and Paper-2.
- Candidates have to take Paper-1 or Paper-2 or both the papers as per the requirement of the course applied for.
- Paper-1 consists of objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with equal weightage given to all the three subjects.
- Paper-1 can be opted for as either pen and paper based or computer based by the candidate.
- Paper-2 includes objective type questions of Mathematics and Aptitude Test in Part I and Part II respectively while Part-III consists of questions to test drawing aptitude.
- Paper-2 is pen and paper based only.
- Candidates aspiring for B.Arch./ B.Planning courses have to take up Paper-2 while candidates for all other undergraduate courses have to take up Paper-1.

- After filling the online application, take a print out of the confirmation page.
- The duly filled in confirmation page along with the Demand Draft (if the fee is paid through Demand Draft) must be sent by registered post/ speed post only to the following address – The JEE (Main) Secretariat, Central Board of Secondary Education, PS-1-2, Institutional Area, I.P.Extension, Patparganj, Delhi – 110092.
- Offline Examination (Pen and paper based) – April 7, 2013
- Online Examination (Computer based) – During April 8-25, 2013 (the exact dates will be displayed on the JEE (Main) website by February 1, 2013)
